ERI Scores

Energy Rating Index (ERI) scores show the results of design and third-party testing, produced by a Building Science Institute (BSI) Level 2 Verifier.

Proof of the results

After consulting, design, and third-party testing, an ERI score shows the results and proves the home is comfortable and quality-built.

What an ERI score measures

The Energy Rating Index (ERI) is a numerical score of a home's energy performance compared with a reference home, as defined by ANSI/RESNET/ICC Standard 301. A lower score means a more efficient home.

ERI scores can be used in ENERGY STAR and DOE Zero Energy Ready Home certification.

Who it's for

Builders, architects, engineering firms, and home designers who need an ERI score for a project.

Is an ERI score the same as a HERS rating?

Both are Energy Rating Index scores based on the same national standard (ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301). "HERS" is RESNET's brand name for its version, produced by RESNET-certified raters. Bell Energy Solutions produces ERI scores as a Building Science Institute (BSI) Level 2 Verifier. We are not a RESNET HERS rater.
